A lot of the schools that we work in, their
budgets go on different things, not playing facilities. For someone like SIS Pitches to
come and provide this to two schools that wouldn’t have been able to think about providing
a facility like this to the kids, it’s just out of this world. I think every primary school should have one. The benefits for us have been immense, and the children, as you’ve
seen today, are really excited about it. Playing football and team sports not only develops their confidence and emotional well-being, but also their gross motor skills and fine
motor skills. Having this pitch will give the kids an outlet to engage in sporting activities, it promotes social activities, teamwork, and really building those friendships. Every club is a community asset, so it’s really important that the professional game, the Premier League do a great job in giving back, and if we can help young people from a Manchester United
Foundation point of view, using the asset of the club, the players and the game, then I think we’re doing a good job. I think seeing people with Manchester United FC badges on gives children aspiration. These are heroes to our children, and they look to those people
as role models. For me, a facility like this facilitates all that is good about the beautiful game. Sometimes we forget that the beautiful game starts with young children, and allowing them to express themselves in a safe and secure manner, and that’s what this does, it epitomises it.
