NEW AT ELEVEN. TWO VOLUNTEER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FACE CHARGES AFTER TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS DURING A HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME. IT HAPPENED DURING THE FOURTH QUARTER OF THIS GAME LAST NIGHT WHEN VOLUNTEER HOSTED CHEROKEE HIGH SCHOOL. ACCORDING TO THE HAWKINS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, A 17 YEAR-OLD VOLUNTEER STUDENT STRUCK A CHEROKEE STUDENT WITH A FLAG POLE. THAT VOLUNTEER STUDENT WAS CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT HAPPENED, A SHERIFF’S OFFICE SPOKESMAN SAID A VOLUNTEER STUDENT REFUSED TO CALM DOWN IN THE STANDS DESPITE MULTIPLE REQUESTS FROM A DEPUTY. THIS IS VIEWER VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT THAT ENSUED. HERE’S ANOTHER VIDEO FROM THE SAME INCIDENT SHOWING THE VOLUNTEER STUDENT GETTING ARRESTED BY AN OFFICER. HE IS CHARGED WITH WITH CRIMINAL TRESPASSING, RESISTING ARREST, AND ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER. THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE CONTINUES TO REVIEW THE INCIDENT AND PLANS TO RELEASE AN UPDATE MONDAY.
