THE MEXICAN AND AMERIAN
MILITARIES TOOK TO THE GRIDIRON FORSOME ATHLETIC
COOPERATION AS THE U-S NAVAL ACADEMY TOOK ON
MEXICO’S MILITARY ACADEMY, HEROICO COLEGIO MILITAR,
IN AN EXHIBITION SPRINT FOOTBALL GAME. SPRINT FOOTBALL IS A FORM
OF AMERICAN-STYLE FOOTBALL WITH A 172 POUND
WEIGHT LIMIT, EMPHASIZING SPEED
AND AGILITY. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE
MIDSHIPMEN SPRINT FOOTBALL TEAM HAS HOSTED
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION, AFTER PLAYING THE
INAUGURAL GAME LAST YEAR IN MEXICO CITY. SO WHEN THEY GOT THERE IT
WAS BIG HUGS, HANDSHAKES, AND JUST A REAL SMOOTH
INTERACTION WITH THEM. SO IT’S A TREAT, THEY ARE
EXCITED TO BE AROUND EACH OTHER AND THATS WHAT IT
REALLY COMES DOWN TO IS THAT FOOTBALL
WILL COME AND GO, THE INTERACTIONS AS FAR AS
RECEPTIONS WILL COME AND GO, BUT THEY GET TO GET
OUT THERE TONIGHT HAVE SOME TEAM BUILDING
AND JUST HAVE FUN. THAT’S WHAT WILL BE THE
MEMORY THESE KIDS WILL REMEMBER, SO IT’S
GOING TO BE GREAT. FROM THE UNITED
STATES NAVAL ACADEMY, I’M PETTY OFFICER
