Top 5 Nigerian Football Players: Who is The Best? | Legit TV

Nigerians just can’t imagine their lives
without football and these are not just beautiful words. Even FIFA president, Gianni Infantino,
once noted than “Nigerians not only love football, they live football.” Today we will talk about Top 5 Nigerian players
that are currently in the limelight of international attention and show no signs of stopping Victor Moses The son of a Christian pastor lost his parents
when he was just 11. At that time he couldn’t even imagine that one day he would become
a Nigerian football sensation. Now Moses is a top player, who has established
himself as a tricky right winger. Apart from winning the 2013 Africa Cup of
Nations with the Super Eagles, he can boast of a new big achievement. This year he won
the Premier League trophy with his club Chelsea Thus, he became the Nigerian player with the
most Premier League appearances for a title winning team. John Obi Mikel The midfielder is unarguably the most successful
Nigerian football player in the English Premier League, especially in terms of longevity and
laurels. He joined Chelsea in 2006 and won over 10
trophies with the English club. One of the most memorable victories was in
Munich on May 19, 2012. In the Champions League final Mikel played
the full 120 minutes in a tough defensive battle and was hailed by critics for playing
an excellent game. Chelsea claimed a 4–3 victory in the penalty
shootout and Mikel told reporters that it was “best night of our lives.” Alex Iwobi
He is the nephew of former professional footballer Jay-Jay Okocha, so love for this sport is
in his blood. Iwobi joined Arsenal while still at primary
school and signed a new long-term contract with the club in October 2015.
If you watched the 2018 World Cup qualification match between Nigeria and Zambia, you’ll
agree that the 21-year-old deserves to be called a hero.
He came off the substitute bench to score the only goal of the match giving the Super
Eagles the ticket to the World Cup in Russia next year. Odion Ighalo In January 2017, Ighalo joined Chinese Super
League club Changchun Yatai F.C. for £20m. But before that, he had managed to play in
four top leagues in Europe and proved to be a talented striker. In Spanish club Granada, Ighalo is regarded
as a legend because he helped them progress to La Liga in 2011. The club even named one
of the entrances to their new stadium after the Super Eagles forward. Ighalo is also known to be a devout Christian
who often dedicates part of his wages for Nigerian charitable organisations. Now the Ajegunle-born striker is heavily involved
in charity works in Lagos where he has built an orphanage home. William Troost-Ekong Born in the Netherlands to a Nigerian father
and a Dutch mother, Troost-Ekong had his early football education in England with the youth
teams of Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur. Although he represented the Netherlands at
under-19 and under-20 youth levels, he always wanted to represent Nigeria. And he was very
proud to put on the green shirt in June 2015, playing in an AFCON qualifier against Chad. The next year he already won ‘Nigeria Pitch
Awards’ Defender of the year. Recently, Troost-Ekong and Moses have been
included in the 30-man shortlist for the 2017 African Player of the Year award. The winner will be announced at the Awards
Gala on January 4 in Accra, Ghana. And we hope that one of the Super Eagles stars
will return home with this prestigious award. That’s all for today. Who is the best Nigerian

  1. First to comment are best player in order is iwobi, victor Moses,  kelechi ihenancho, tyrone ebueh and ogu.  we need to remove the  basket's from the team such ezenwa and akepeyi and nwakeme. We need enyeama as first choice followed by uzoho and olampasu to fight for with second our third. We need to call up osimhen instead of nwakeme  to see what he can contribute to the team .I also liked that Russian based Nigerian who scored. Also what ever happened to bright dike he was really good keshi was going to call him up but he got injured. Are defense is subpar and and are midfield is average while are attack is excellent
