The challenge has been laid, and these athletes
are picking it up. Major Darren O’Callaghan composed
the haka last year in honour of the New Zealand team
competing at the Invictus Games. 19th-century poet
William Ernest Henley served as an inspiration
for O’Callaghan’s composition. He says the spirit
of the poem ‘Invictus’ is infused into the composition. The games are held every year. The Duke of Sussex
launched the event. This disabled war vet says
the games have a lot of positives. The first game for the NZ Invictus wheelchair basketball team
is this Friday. Krystal-Lee Brown, Te Karere.
