The thing I liked the most of tonight’s game was that the team showed great character, it was never going an easy game here at the legendary San Siro. Inter is a strong team, before tonight they had never lost a single point in this campaign and, moreover, we were playing in a tough stadium with a dazzling atmosphere. But despite everything we played very well, I really liked the way we reacted to Inter’s goal and how we took the game back in our hands. I think that in the end we deserved the three points, even though Inter were really tenacious and the fans were really pushing them beyond their limits. Winning here at San Siro is never easy even if you come here as the favourite for the match and I’m happy with how the lads have been working because we have improved many aspects of the game. Even though we played well and showed signs of improvement, we still have a lot of work to do. The game against Napoli was a bit strange for us because at times we played really clever football but other times we showed lack of concentration and poor decision making. This was a completely different type of match, it was a very physical game, played at a very high intensity and I think we responded well to Inter’s high-pressure game. After this game we are more conscious of our strengths and weaknesses. We didn’t need to see Juventus play to know what great of a team they are and the qualities of their players, both on the pitch and on the bench. It’s obvious that they are an incredible team with many great players, but this is a club that kept improving themselves every year since 2011/12 season. They have been getting better and better every year while the others big team in Serie A haven’t been doing as well. This generated a gap between the various teams and we need to be honest and say that it will be very difficult to fill that gap in the next two or three seasons. With that being said, everyone saw the match and we were always in control, apart from the 15 minutes right after Sensi came off injured and the first five minutes of the start of the second half. When we lost control of the ball and the grip of the game, it seemed we were playing as individuals instead of as a team. We could have taken more risks, maybe the match could have gone another way but in the end it was pretty much balanced. I’ve seen the match statistics regarding shots on goal, corners taken and ball possession, and they show that Juve didn’t dominate the game, let’s not forget that Vecino hit the post in the second half. When you have a match with two teams competing this hard to win the game it’s likely that in the end it’s not the favored team to go home with three points. Congratulations to Juventus for the game they played but we can be proud of our performance and I think tonight we showed to everyone out there that we can compete with anyone. We know that this defeat came against a great team and it doesn’t mean that tonight we weren’t good enough or that we are going in the wrong direction as a team. We have to learn from our mistakes and take as much as we can from this setback, we need to come back stronger, with more desire to win every game and to improve our game.
