How To Stand Out At A Soccer Tryout – Soccer Tryout Tips

Hey everyone, Dave from Simply Soccer here
bringing you some soccer tips. This video is all about how to stand out at
a soccer tryout and impress the coaches there. Now you may be thinking that coaches are expecting
you to be displaying Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Messi like football skills during the
trout. This isnt the case. Soccer tryouts are different than regular
practices or matches. Think of a tryout as advertising yourself
as a player in a short amount of time Here are a few ideas to keep in mind when
preparing for a tryout. First off, you do need to prepare. Dont start preparing for the tryout the
day before, make sure you start preparing weeks in advanced. Work on areas of your game that you know need
improving. Work on your fitness especially, coaches will pick up on your lack of fitness
right away and will most likely not pick players that are out of shape for their team. Now during the actual tryout, be dangerous
and direct. What I mean is, run at players, take shots.
Show the coaches that you are a threat. Some of the best players in the world are feared
because they are incredibly direct. So if you have an opportunity to take a player
on on the wing and whip in a cross, do it. If you are 20 yards out and you have a chance
to quickly beat a man and shoot, do it. If you have that killer ball in your sights,
do it. Even if you fail in any of these, keep your
head held high and
keep going. The coaches will notice that you are trying to make things happen instead of
laying of the responsibility to another player. I realize for defenders, this information
will not apply as well. But for defenders, make sure you are solid. Get involved in the
attack during corners and set pieces. Also be calm, dont worry. Coaches love
defenders that have a cool head and dont panic in potentially dangerous situations. Next piece of advice is communicate. I cant tell you how many tryouts Ive
attended and the other players are dead quite. Football coaches hate this. Be a leader, communicate with the other players.
I dont care if you know them or not. The coaches will see that you are being a leader
and are trying to organize your team. Its something that is all to often overlooked. Be confident, even if you arent normally,
fake it. I always had great sessions or games when
I was confident in my ability. Coaches will also pick up on whether you are a confident
player or not. Visualize yourself scoring, see yourself playing
well and it will happen. Tell yourself repeatedly I am a great soccer
player. Youll be surprised how much the mental
side of your game will effect the physical side. Ok, last piece of advice should be obvious,
but Im gonna go ahead and say it anyway. Work hard, give 100%. When you walk off that
pitch, I want you to have no regrets. If you do that, then you should be proud of
yourself, regardless if you make the team or not. And remember, even if you dont make the
team, this isnt the end. Work harder and make it next time. Ok everyone, I hope this has helped you. If
