Gary Lineker has sparked fears Match of the Day could be delayed this evening as a result of today’s huge Brexit events  Parliament is sitting for its first Saturday in 37 years and voted in favour of the Letwin amendment, delaying a vote on the latest deal to leave the European Union until next week  MPs were due to vote on the latest deal this afternoon, with a result due at around 5pm, and Lineker expressed a fear it would cause highlights of today’s Premier League action on BBC One to be delayed  It is unclear whether Lineker’s tweet was serious, given he light-heartedly joked the show would “remain” on BBC One  The delay in the Brexit vote caused by the Letwin amendment would seemingly make Match of the Day more likely to begin at it’s scheduled time of 10:30pm after the 10 o’clock news   Lineker wrote: “Hearing @BBCMOTD might be delayed by Brexit tonight. Whatever happens we’ll remain on @BBCOne ”   Lineker has been vocal regarding his stance on Brexit , demanding a People’s Vote on leaving the European Union  He has previously been criticised for his political comments on social media, given his position within the impartial BBC  Speaking about his stance last month, Lineker said: “I believe I’m on the right side I think the country’s been lied to.  “When the referendum first came about, I thought ‘well that’s it, okay, it’s not what I really wanted, it’s a shame’  “I didn’t think it was very good for the country because I’d done quite a lot of research before I had my opinions I thought I needed to know what I was talking about, and I concluded that it’d be hugely damaging to the country  “Obviously I was massively disappointed and then I thought ‘alright, I’ll accept it, that’s it, that’s fine’  “But then gradually you started to realise all the lies that came out that were told before the referendum  “So, in the end, I came out on the side of ‘hang on a minute, now we know what it’s really about, let’s perhaps put it back to the people’ ”
