CAIN WITH MORE ON THE STORMS THAT HAPPENED EARLIER TODAY. REPORTER: YEAH, MIKE WE ARE HERE IN GLEAN COUNT GREENE COUNTY WHERE EARLIER THIS MORNING WE WERE UNDER A TORNADO WARNING. THAT DID NOT TURN OUT TO BE THE BIG PROBLEM OF THE DAY. IT WAS ALL THE RAIN THAT CAME SO HARD AND FAST CAUSING FLOODWATERS. IN THE INTERSECTION BEHIND ME DRIVERS CONTINUE TAKING THE RISK DRIVING THROUGH HIGH WATERS, AND FOR SOME THAT RISK DID NOT END SO WELL TODAY. HE TRIED TO MAKE IT, BUT THE WATER WAS JUST TOO HIGH. A WEST VIRGINIA MAN STUCK IN FLOODWATERS AT THE INTERSECTION OF ROUTES 18 AND 21 IN ROGERSVILLE THIS AFTERNOON. EVENTUALLY HE ESCAPES FEET FIRST OUT THE WINDOW, AND WADES THROUGH THE WATER ALMOST UP TO HIS STOMACH TO SAFETY. HE DECLINED TO BE INTERVIEWED BUT ASSURED ME HE WAS OKAY AND SAID HE LEARNED HIS LESSON. OTHER DRIVERS CONTINUED TAKING THE RISK AND THIS WHITE CAR GOT STUCK.>>IT WAS THE LAST 50 FEET OR SO. REPORTER: SCOTT TELLS ME HE ALMOST MAILED IT. DID THE ENGINE SHUT OFF OR WHAT HAPPENED?>>YEAH I WAS DOING OKAY THERE AND THEN GOT SLOWED BY TRAFFIC AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. REPORTER: THAT’S PRECISELY WHY OFFICIALS WARN.>>TURN AROUND DON’T DROWN IT’S EASY. REPORTER: GREENE COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR SAYS MOST OF THE DAMAGE IN HIS COUNTY WAS FROM FLOODWATERS. SCHOOLS WERE DISMISSED EARLY.>>SCHOOLS LET OUT EARLY, WEST GREEN WAS LET OUT AT 10:00, WAYNESBURGH 11, JEFFERSON AT 11:00. WEST GREEN HAD TO PUT A LITTLE DELAY INTO THEIR DISMISSAL BECAUSE OF — WE ALSO HAD A TORNADO WARNING. REPORTER: NO SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE WAS REPORTED FROM THE WINDS. FOR NOW FOLKS HERE IN GREENE COUNTY ARE WAITING FOR THE WATER TOSS RECEDE. IN THE MEANTIME OFFICIALS STRESSING WHEN YOU ENCOUNTER HIGH WATERS LIKE THESE PEOPLE ARE RIGHT NOW THEY SAY TURN THE CAR AROUND.
